Grade: 5
Lesson Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of making creative choices by participating in a series of introductory drama games as a class. National Arts Standards:
Hook/Theatre Vocab Word of the Day: Silly Name Game/Pantomime
This game is a very basic drama game just to give the students something to grasp on to (I chose this game because it uses familiar aspects, acting, which would be something that they would associate with drama) before we start working more in depth and in various aspects of drama in future lessons.
(This activity will be used if there is extra time left, or if the game above is too easy or gets out of hand.) Once again, the class will have to be split into two groups. The goal of this game is to work together to create the shape of an object with their bodies as I count down from 10 to 1. When I reach one, I will yell “FREEZE,” and the students will need to freeze in their positions together as the object.
